Sun-Spot Catalytic Infrared Heaters
High-performance flameless infrared curing systems for wood, metal, automotive, OEM manufacturing, industrial coatings, powder coating and finishing applications.
Understanding the Sun-Spot Catalytic Heater
Sun-Spot catalytic heaters generate radiant infrared heat without an exposed flame. The result is controlled medium-to-long-wave infrared energy that can be absorbed efficiently by materials used throughout industrial finishing and manufacturing.
Flameless Infrared Heat
A catalytic heater produces infrared energy through a controlled chemical reaction rather than conventional flame-based combustion. This creates radiant heat in the medium-to-long infrared range.
Radiant infrared energy transfers directly toward the material being heated instead of relying primarily on hot moving air. This makes the technology suitable for a broad range of industrial materials, including wood, plastics, coated metal, composites, paints, adhesives, and other organic finishes.
The heater directs radiant energy toward the workpiece, helping reduce unnecessary heating of the surrounding air.
Fuel and Oxygen Enter
Natural gas or propane combines with oxygen inside the catalytic heating system.
The Catalyst Activates the Reaction
A catalyst supports controlled oxidation at a temperature below the point where an exposed flame would normally be produced.
Radiant Infrared Heat Is Produced
The reaction produces heat, water vapour, and carbon dioxide while generating infrared energy directed toward the coated surface.
No Exposed Flame
Heat is generated through catalytic oxidation rather than a conventional open-flame burner.
Direct Radiant Energy
Infrared energy is directed toward the coating and workpiece instead of depending entirely on circulating heated air.
Efficient Heat Transfer
Catalytic infrared heating can offer higher thermal efficiency than conventional systems that must heat large volumes of surrounding air.
